God So Loved
God so love the world......John 3. 16
When Lucinda first moved to Colorado, she marveled at the beauty around her. Jagged mountain peaks. Wispy clouds dancing in a crystalline sky. Aspen trees were arrayed in autumn colors. Each day's drive to work brought new wonders into view.
It took almost a year, but eventually, Lucinda stopped seeing the splendor everywhere around her. The details of daily life demanded too much of her attention.
Has that ever happened to you? Has the magnificent ever grown mundane? Do you ever take something wonderful for granted?
Before you answer, think about these five little words:
God so loved the world....John 3:16
Maybe you will find this Scripture as familiar that you scarely hear it when you read it. The splendor of it has grown gray, has faded into the landscape of your hearts as you deal with the details of daily living.
Or maybe you find these words, this thought, altogether new. Perhaps you wonder what it means----and if it is meant for you.
No mater where you find yourself right now, the person who first spoke these words - Jesus Christ - intends to bring you unimaginable hope though them! Your Savior wants to open your eyes and your heart to reveal their splendor, their transforming power.
These simple words convey a profound truth. God's love has no liits---God so loves. His love is beyond measure. His love defies description. His love is not "love-in-general." His love is personal. Very personal. His love is for you.
We need this love in more ways than we can count. The hole in our hearts is deeper than we know. We do not deserve god's love. We have not earned it. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Still, we cannot stop God's love. The cross of Jesus proves that. Love us, God did. Love us, god does. His love for us is beyond measure.
How I need your love, dear Jesus! In the days ahead as I spend time thinking about your love, hold me close.....
